Thanks Aunt Katie!

Aunt Katie had to work on Hyrum's Birthday so she came over on Friday and brought an awesome birthday present! She has a co-worker that has a  teenage daughter that makes cakes. Aunt Katie ordered one and scored big points with Hyrum. Harker was extremely jealous but got over it enough to gawk at it and enjoy a piece. Aunt Katie has set the bar high!

Hyrum's Nine!

Hyrum's birthday was Tuesday, the 20th and we had a great time celebrating his big day. I delivered cupcakes to his school to share with his class and he was not too happy to have state testing on his special day but it proved to be a good thing as it got him out of homework. We had a bunch of family and friends over for a Nacho Bar, games, cake and ice cream, and presents. Hyrum got lots of Legos, money, mad libs (he and Harker LOVE them), and a digital camera.

Hyrum is a builder so it was only fitting that we had a building contest with marshmellows and toothpicks.

We had twelve kids, ten adults and a teenager!

The Nacho Bar was a big hit and soo yummy! I am thinking we might have to do this more often.

Spring Break 2012

Spring Break is over and I can hardly believe it. It went by so quickly! We had plenty of fun but I only seemed to get one picture the whole week. The highlight for the kids was swimming at the hotel pool (we went away for a couple of days).  Second would be going to the movies and third would be going to Big Cheese with their cousins, oh yeah, a sleep over at our house fits in there somewhere.  For me, I went to my first garage sale of the season (big adrenaline rush!), got to go to a town with a Target, scored big at the K-Mart clearance racks there AND I  got the car cleaned out. Exciting I tell you! We spent LOTS of time at the park as the weather was great this week. The wind blew and made my eyes go crazy but it was worth the feel of the sun on my deprived skin. I also drove all over town looking for number ten cans of cheese sauce as Hyrum's birthday is this week and he wants to have a Nacho Bar for his birthday party dinner. Harry Potter, Nachos and lemon cake, am I not raising him well?!!

Chicken Fried

I was gone for an hour this morning and came home to find Brad in the kitchen with his nose in the Betty Crocker Cookbook. He informed me that he needed some buttermilk. He was determined to fry some chicken. I was intrigued and left for the store.

Brad soaked the chicken in buttermilk for four hours and then went to work.

He fried up the chicken and it was GOOD! Dorothy brought over some biscuits and okra and we were all in Heaven!

But Mom...

Me: "Hyrum, you need to go brush your teeth."
Hyrum: "BUT MOMMMM....I already brushed my teeth yesterday AND the day before!!!!"

Tech Man

Nathan has really taken to the computer lately. He can navigate through NickJR.com like no body's business. He is quite amazing and it has gotten to the point that I have to kick him off or he will spend WAY too much time with his online friends! His next favorite pastime lately is watching Netflix on Brad's IPad. He can go from show to show and stay on that too long too!
